A twin study of competence and problem behaviour in childhood and early adolescence
Article Abstract:
A study of the correlation between scores on the Child Behaviour Checklist (CBCL) scales for 99 pairs of monozygotic twins and 82 pairs of dizygotic twins shows a noticeable genetic effect, which differs depending on the particular area of competence and problem behaviour. Genetic influences are palpable in emotional and behavioral problems. Performance in school is the only competency showing genetic influence. Environmental influence also plays a strong role in emotional behavior. Distinctions between the two types of influence are crude. Interestingly, genetics influences aggressive behavior and genetics and environment affect delinquency.

Sibling resemblance for psychiatric disorders in offspring at high and low risk for depression
Article Abstract:
Family patterns for major depressive, anxiety and conduct disorders are examined. The sibling resemblance for these disorders is examined using data drawn from 164 sibling pairs at high risk of depression and 68 pairs of siblings at low risk of depression. The results show that there is greater resemblance for anxiety disorder in the high risk cohort than in the low-risk cohort. However, this does not hold true for depressive disorders.
