The acquisition, development and maintenance of lottery and scratchcard gambling in adolescence
Article Abstract:
The psychosocial repercussions of the UK National Lottery and instant scratchcards on adolescents were investigated. It was observed that many teenagers are taking part in such forms of gambling and that there is a meaningful relationship between parental and child gambling such that parents are even the ones purchasing the lottery tickets for their children. Many of the teenagers were of the belief that such activities are not gambling and that they hoped to win substantial sums of money.
