Absence of an association between IgE-mediated atopic responsiveness and ADHD symptomatology
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine whether IgE-mediated reactions or atopy is associated with the manifestations of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) features in 312 children referred to a pediatric allergist. It was hypothesized that the severity of IgE-mediated atopy and the symptomatology of ADHD are related. The study found no evidence suggesting a relationship between IgE-mediated responsiveness and ADHD, although this does not necessarily mean that such an association is not possible through some other mechanism.

ADHD and thyroid abnormalities: a research note
Article Abstract:
A study of 132 clinically referred attention deficit-hypersensitivity disorder (ADHD) children and adolescents reveals no evidence of generalized resistance to thyroid hormone. More incidence of ADHD is seen in patients with generalized resistance to thyroid hormone than in those without this rare genetic condition. The study reveals that no more than 1% of children with ADHD suffer from thyroid abnormalities and this percentage is comparable to the rate of thyroid abnormality in normal children.
