Accreditation of psychology's graduate professional education and training programs: an historical perspective
Article Abstract:
The American Psychological Association (APA) has maintained accreditation for professional internship and doctoral programs since the 1940s. National conferences in psychology have always favored this accreditation system, at times with some reservations. Of late, both academic and professional groups of psychologists have demanded a bigger role in this . The reasons behind APA's accreditation system, its development and the latest big changes done for the benefit of the discipline are described.

Operationalizing multicultural training in doctoral programs and internships
Article Abstract:
A survey of experts aimed at defining multicultural training academic psychology programs. The operational definition of multicultural training in academic programs and internships may assist doctoral programs and internships as they try to make multiculturally qualified psychologists. A total of 51 experts were given open-ended questionnaires to specify 10 aspects necessary for internship and doctoral programs. In phase 2 the subjects were asked to specify the order of the compiled listing.

Perspectives on practicum: a survey of directors of accredited PhD programs and internships (or, what is a practicum hour, and how many do I need?)
Article Abstract:
Extensive assessments revealed the nature of preinternship practicum requirements, definitions of practicum requirements and supervision practices pertaining to Directors of American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited graduate training programs. There is a marked variability in the quantity and make-up of the practicum training requirement of students in APA-accredited doctoral training programs in clinical psychology.
