All frames are not created equal: a typology and critical analysis of framing effects
Article Abstract:
Three different types of framing based on a priori distinctions between different sets of operational definitions were identified, namely, risky choice framing, attribute framing and goal framing. The typology developed distinguished between the standard risky choice framing effect, which affects willingness to take a risk; attribute framing, which affects the evaluation of object or event characteristics; and goal framing, which affects the persuasiveness of a communication. Several examples of each framing type and likely theoretical mechanisms underlying each are presented.

All negative moods are not equal: motivational influences of anxiety and sadness on decision making
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to test the hypothesis that sadness and anxiety can have distinct influences on decision making. This is because, during the decision-making process, these affective states are likely to generate different implicit motivations. It is further suggested that these distinct implicit motivations may affect decision making even when the target of the decision is insignificant to the affect-eliciting event. To determine these predictions, sad and anxious participants' decisions in choice situations involving a trade-off between risk and reward were examined.
