Annotation: Mood disorder in suicidal children and adolescents: Recent developments
Article Abstract:
It is increasingly recognized that suicide in young people is an important public health challenge. The link between mood disorder and suicidal phenomena in children and adolescents is important. A review of studies documenting the prevalence of mood disorder in children and adolescents who commit, attempt or consider suicide, is provided. These reveal evidence of a link between mood disorder and suicidal ideation and suicide attempts, and also show that mood disorder is a predictor of suicidal ideation and attempts.

Annotation: are children of alcoholics a clinical concern for child and adolescent psychiatrists of today?
Article Abstract:
Children with alcoholism in their families frequently exhibit problems including learning disability, alcoholism, criminality and emotional disorders. They are at risk due to genetic factors, fetal impairment and emotional stress. Many children from families with alcoholism appear to adjust well in adult life, but child psychiatrists should constantly bear in mind familial alcoholism and the family perspective.
