Antecedents of leader utilization of staff input in decision-making teams
Article Abstract:
An experiment to analyze a leader's evaluation and utilization of staff input in decision-making teams showed that the team leader was conditioned by experience, a particular member's confidence in the leader's judgment and cumulative accuracy of staff in previous conditions. The last two factors were demonstrated under conditions of differential staff weighting as the optimal staff utilization strategy. However, staff confidence information was not positively correlated to the team leader's weighting variability or to actual accuracy of staff weighting.

Strength of preference and effects of valence in the domains of gains and losses
Article Abstract:
The cognitive processes underlying positive valence effects and negative valence effects are investigated as an extension of the research initiated by Yamagashi and Miyamoto (1996). A focus shift model which recognizes discrepancies as asymmetries is used to analyze the processes. Systematic positive valence effects are observed in the domain of gains, while negative valence effects are observed in the domain of losses.
