Article Abstract:
A comment on a special section on Relational Disorders states that relational disorders exist as genuine medical disorders, even when there is no disorder in either individual in the relationship. Using the harmful dysfunction analysis of the concept of disorder, it is argued that genuine relational dysfunctions, when harmful, are relational disorders, and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV misclassifies some sexual relational disorders as individual disorders.
