Associate editor's editorial: killing words
Article Abstract:
Violent music lyrics can influence unbounded youths towards murder. This can occur with immature youth who view other people in stereotypic ways. They do not yet understand that other people's feelings differ from theirs, and do not feel empathy for others. They feel no remorse for violent crime, because they do not feel connected to other human beings. The criminal justice system assumes more mature individiduals, yet such youth are not aware that their crime was a choice, because they did not appreciate the moral wrongness of their actions. The Interpersonal Level of Maturity Theory can separate out youth at this level.

Sexual abuse of children: strengths and weaknesses of current criminology
Article Abstract:
The perpetrators of most child sexual abuse are people who know the child and often even family members. The view of perpetrator-oriented criminology that such abuse is mainly committed by strangers is in error. Theories about causation range from the socioeconomic, the sociocultural, to ideas about the family system. Children from an emotionally deficient environment are more likely to be sexually abused. Psychological and social injuries to the victim can be substantial, and treatment for both victim and perpetrator is needed. Prevention tactics are discussed.
