The role of child-centered perspectives in a model of parenting
Article Abstract:
Researchers examined the role of maternal child-focused perspectives in parenting. Earlier research has focused on the direct effects of the parental resources of self-esteem, child-rearing experience and social support on parenting behaviour. This longitudinal study demonstrated the importance of the child-centered perspectives held by the mother as the mechanism by which these resources influence mother-child relations. Findings also demonstrated the role of maternal self-esteem in mediating between the other two parenting resources and maternal perspectives.

Child-rearing following in vitro fertilization
Article Abstract:
A comparative study among in vitro fertilized (IVF) parents, other formerly infertile parents and fertile parents with a child between 2 and 4 years of age shows different child-rearing behaviors among mother parents. The IVF mothers and previously infertile mothers report greater parental competence and emotional involvement with the child than the fertile mothers. The IVF mothers have positive attitude towards their children, rating them more social and less obstinate. However, the fathers of these groups show hardly any difference on any of these measures.

The relation of medical risk and maternal stimulation with preterm infants' development of cognitive, language and daily living skills
Article Abstract:
Maternal interactive strategies that help infants in maintaining their attentional focus are essential for the cognitive and language development in high and low risk preterm infants. The development of high risk infants is related to the maternal strategies used to maintain attention during daily activities and toy play. As the signaling capability of the infants enhances, the mothers are better able to respond to their cues. Mothers show a reduction in their warm sensitivity with the infants' need for autonomy.
