Associations between different diagnostic approaches for child and adolescent psychopathology
Article Abstract:
Researchers examined the convergence of two diagnostic approaches used in child psychopathology. They found that scores obtained from applying the clinical-diagnostic approach of the Diagnostic Interview Schedule after application of the empirical quantitative approach of the Child Behaviour Checklist did not converge significantly enough to allow one approach to be used in place of the other. Both approaches may deliver specific information with, for example, the Attention Problems scale being the only predictor of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Associations between behavioural and emotional problems in adolescence and maladjustment in young adulthood
Article Abstract:
Research into the ability of parent-reported behavioural or emotional problems for 11- to 16-year-olds to predict later psychopathology has established that behavioural and emotional problems in adolescents are closely linked with later psychopathology and functional impairment in young adults. A number of factors may be responsible for continuities in psychopathology. These include the structure of personality and style of response to stress.
