Awareness of language in children who have reading difficulties: historical comparisons in a longitudinal study
Article Abstract:
Research on the problems children with reading problems encounter when learning about words with grammatical distinctions was conducted. Two groups of children with reading difficulties and one group without reading problems were involved in the study. The findings demonstrate that children with reading difficulties were better than others with the same reading level. However, they lose their advantage due to difficulties encountered with letter-sound correspondence. It is also this difficulty which prevent the improvement of their grammatical awareness and spelling ability.
