Some mistakes about consciousness and their motivation
Article Abstract:
Dennett and Kinsbourne's theory of consciousness contains two mistakes. First is the view that Cartesian materialism is the central locus in the brain where stimuli from different sensory modalities cohere. Second is to state that the properties of stimuli and the vehicles by which they enter consciousness combine. Unity and reflexivity of consciousness are the reasons why the second mistake persists. A third mistake, connected with the second, states that there must be a reason why experience is altered by Stalinesque or Orwellian theories.

Toward an identity theory of consciousness
Article Abstract:
Dennett and Kinsbourne postulates that the distinction between conscious and unconscious processing is arbitrary and lapses at close quarters. This is false since there are states of conscious awareness. Conscious processing is cognitive or representational processing according to the identity theory of consciousness. However, conscious experience and cognitive science offer different descriptions for this same process.
