Beyond medical risk: investigating the psychological factors underlying women's perceptions of susceptibility to breast cancer, heart disease, and osteoporosis
Article Abstract:
The association of epidemiological risk indices distinguished the disease factors and cognitive heuristics to women's perceived susceptibility to breast cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis, in 312 women of the age group of 40 to 86 were examined. Furthermore, psychological factors forecasted the perceived susceptibility much more than what the medical risk factors can.

Osteoporosis prevention among young women: psychosocial models of calcium consumption and weight-bearing exercises
Article Abstract:
Perceived barriers and self-efficacy can be used to predict the intention of young women to consume calcium and to exercise. It is found that constructs such as susceptibility and severity that are specific to osteoporosis do not contribute to prediction.
