Beyond the male condom: the evolution of gender-specific HIV interventions for women
Article Abstract:
As the number of HIV infections in women increases, there is a parallel development of interventions to reduce the risk of sexual transmissions. The importance of gender relations in risk prevention, as well as future approaches to the problem, is discussed.

The practices of ritualized homosexuality and male insemination in Melanesia, Oceania are discussed. A desire for modern development and progress has led to a virtual disappearance of the practices among the Gebusi of Papua New Guinea.
