Buddhist meditation and countertransference: a case study
Article Abstract:
The theory and technique of Buddhism and psychoanalysis can be mutually enriching for the therapist. Affects are used to get in touch with identifications in both Tibetan Buddhist insight meditation and psychoanalysis. Both also regard self-scrutiny as primary. The dual perspective provided by the two disciplines can become something like a zoom lens rather than two different lenses. A case study of countertransference illustrates the point.
