Metabotropic receptors and 'slow' excitatory actions of glutamate agonists in the hippocampus
Article Abstract:
A study was done on the metabotropic receptors and slow excitatory actions of glutamate agonists in the hippocampus. It was shown that ambient glutamate regulate background neuronal excitability in the CA1 area of the hippocampus through the inhibition of I(sub AHP) by glutamate receptors. In addition, it was shown that metabotropic agonists participate in synaptogenesis and that the metabotropic actions of glutamate are necessary for the long-term potentiation of hippocampal synapses.

Dependence of postnatal motoneurones on their targets: review and hypothesis
Article Abstract:
A study of embryonic motoneurones show that its survival is dependent on interaction with the target muscle. It was shown that target muscles induce motoneurone competence by helping in the development of characteristics that facilitates its integration into the neuronal circuitry of the growing spinal cord. Motoneurones which are temporarily separated from target muscles exhibit hyperactivity which encourage cell death.
