Childcare patterns of mothers of twins during the first year
Article Abstract:
Mothers of twins use different types of childcare arrangements during the first year, which range on a continuum from individualization to collective mothering. Individualization involves giving attention to each child individually, whereas collective mothering involves treating the two children the same. Organization of daily activities is another significant aspect of mothering practice. The mothers' level of fatigue has a marginal effect on practice. Availability of caregivers does not increase individualized child care. There is no significant relationship between maternal behavior and the twin-type. Collective mothering strengthens the sibling link of the twins.

Maternal attachment state of mind moderates the impact of postnatal depression on infant attachment

Results showed that mothers diagnosed as depressed were more likely to have an insecure state of mind regarding attachment however, the relationship between maternal depression and child attachment was moderated by maternal attachment state of mind.

Making up is hard to do, especially for mothers with high levels of depressive symptoms and their infant sons
Article Abstract:
The effects of maternal depressive symptom status, infant gender, and interactional context are evaluated on mother-infant affective expressiveness and the dyadic features of their interactions. Results indicated that male as compared to female infants were more vulnerable to high levels of maternal depressive symptoms and that high symptom mothers and their sons had more difficult interactions in the challenging reunion episode.
