Article Abstract:
Cooperation can improve the chances of survival of groups, even though individuals may be better off if they pursue self-interest. The impact of smiling as a way of eliciting cooperation in a game is analyzed in detail.

Valuing future private and social benefits: the discounted utility model versus hyperbolic discounting models
