Coping with distress and self harm: the impact of a primary prevention program among adolescents
Article Abstract:
School-based primary prevention psychological programs are feasible and do help adolescents cope with self harm and distress, according to a program carried out amongst 237 junior high school students. The aim of the program was to improve students' ability to cope with distress, and to help them identify distress signs amongst their peers and then communicate with and help their peers. The program had an overall positive impact on emotions, attitudes, awareness and coping potential, although the program needs to be replicated and its long-term impact evaluated.

Coping strategies among adolescents: a cross-cultural study
Article Abstract:
The cultural background individuals plays an important role in determining their choice of adaptability strategies. According to a study conducted on teenaged boys and girls in India, Italy, Hungary, Sweden and Yemen, adolescents who are prone to anxiety fail to adjust themselves to their surroundings. The less anxious individuals, however, employ ingenious techniques of coping with a problem. Girls when compared to the boys were found to be less pragmatic and depended more on emotions for solving their problems.
