Personal, family, and health-related correlates of depressive symptoms in mothers with HIV
Article Abstract:
Most HIV-infected mothers with infants are at risk for depression as they scored above the cutoff provided in the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale. The best predictors of depression during the first year of their child's life are stigma, health perceptions and other physical symptoms associated with HIV infection. Interestingly, personal and family characteristics did not show relevance or predict depression among subjects.
