Overactivity and boundary setting in anorexia nervosa: an existential perspective
Article Abstract:
Extreme physical movement in anorexia nervosa was considered from an existential perspective of the anorexic mode of being for this study. It is overly rational and not irrational as claimed by cognitive-behaviorists. The movements were described variously as a symptom of a wider perceptual disorder, as the cause of anorexia, as a neurologically based compulsive behavior, and a secondary symptom in burning calories. Overactivity also helps anorexic people to achieve a sense of existential permanence by dynamizing their static and rational mode of being.

Supportive parenting and adolescent adjustment across time in former East and West Germany
Article Abstract:
Parental sensitivity has been linked with similar constructs such as warmth responsiveness and acceptance. The effects of consistently versus inconsistently supportive parenting on certain aspects of adolescent adjustment were examined in a sample of 283 Germany early adolescents. Lower levels of depression and delinquency were noted in adolescents who reported their parents to be consistently supportive, along with higher rates of self-efficacy and better performance at school.
