Determinants of the institutionalization of planned organizational change
Article Abstract:
A survey examining how well a new performance appraisal system was institutionalized or assimilated into the established work culture is discussed. The survey sample consisted of 477 county government employees, and results reveal that the new evaluation system received a moderate degree of assimilation through out the county government. There were significant differences between departments, however. Results also show that the new system's impact on employee performance was considered to be less than moderate.

Leadership training on the Bergen Fjord: a case study and evaluation
Article Abstract:
A case study is presented analyzing the experiences of 24 Norwegian naval cadets in work groups to illustrate the affect of training on leadership development. The cadets, who had worked in teams for one year, took part in an exercise over a four-day period. Interpersonal ratings were conducted before and after the event to predict group and leader effectiveness. Research results indicate that the four-day exercise displayed a significant effect on leadership and team development.
