Disaster and psychosocial rehabilitation
Article Abstract:
The impact of the September 11, 2001 attack and the psychological consequences of the event on the survivors and the residents of New York City and Washington, DC, are discussed. Counseling and medication formed a major part of the psychosocial rehabilitation of the disaster victims and their families.

Article Abstract:
Disasters have a profound impact on the affected person causing stress-related disorders, thus requiring psychosocial rehabilitation. The cost of disasters in terms of money and lives should be considered and appropriate measures should be taken to reduce the impact of the disasters.

The neglected disaster

Homelessness among the mentally ill is an ongoing, widely ignored problem in the developing world and is increasing in countries where it never prevailed. Homelessness grew remarkably since 1980s, particularly in the US with 2.75 million persons disabled by mental illness.
