Do children's perceptions and attributions mediate the effects of mothers' child-rearing actions?
Article Abstract:
Children's perception of maternal methods and goals is in moderate agreement with the mothers' reported used of these methods and goals, according to research into the extent to which a child's perceptions of the mother's goals function as a mediating link between maternal behaviours and child outcomes. There was found to be a positive correlation between the nature of the child's internal processing and self-regulation on a shared task. Taking account of the child's processing of parental actions makes a substantial contribution to the debate about the effects of parental disciplinary methods on developmental outcomes.

Meta-emotion philosophy and family functioning: reply to Cowan (1996) and Eisenberg (1996)
Article Abstract:
Qualitative descriptions from meta-emotion transcripts and quantitative analyses are used in response to the comments of P. A. Cowan and N. Eisenberg. Their comments focus on the questioning of the conceptualization and measurement of parental meta-emotion philosophy and child affect regulation. A helpful recommendation is their emphasis on the individual characteristics of children which may affect parental meta-emotion philosophy.
