Do reaches in the dark shed sufficient light on internal representations?
Article Abstract:
It was shown that the data provided by Martha Flanders et al in their article concerning terminal postions of blind reaches may provide different conclusions. The data used by Flanders et al to jsutify shoulder-based representations do not show raw data but rather finger distance predicted by polynomial functions. The motor error in arm orientation coordinates was shown to be far from the data presented. It was thus, supposed that data provided in the article leave much uncertainty to the underlying mechanisms.

Schemas, grasping, tensors and avoidance
Article Abstract:
The importance of relating extrinsic coordinates to task-dependent intrinsic coordinates is emphasized in the discussion of basic motor schemas that provide building blocks for motor behavior and hand coordinates. Further elaboration was provided using the relationships between prey, predator and barriers. The schemas generate a model which show different motor zones for prey-catching behavior that matched those observed in normal conditions and lesioned frogs exhibiting both approach and avoidance behaviors.

Coordinate transformation and limb movements: there may be more complexity than meets the eye
Article Abstract:
Martha Flanders et al's view of the task-dependent nature of the coordinate system in which movement is executed is supported by an analysis of the data given by Georgopoulos et al which supports the existence of a head-centered coordinate system. It was proposed that the transition to a head-centered representation near full extensions of the extremity can occur. However, no data were available to support the findings relating target direction to the origin of the coordinate system.
