Eating disorder behaviors of ethnically diverse urban female adolescent athletes and non-athletes
Article Abstract:
Caucasian and Hispanic adolescents are more concerned about their weight and about dieting than their African-American counterparts, according to research undertaken among 571 female high school athletes and 463 non-athletes from eight high schools in three school districts in a southern metropolitan city in the US. These adolescents are also more dissatisfied than African-Americans with their body shape and size and suffer greater insecurity. There were only small differences between urban adolescent female athletes and non-athletes.

Associated factors for self-reported binge eating among male and female adolescents
Article Abstract:
An epidemiological study of adolescents aged 12 to 19 regarding their eating habits showed that binge eaters (BE) possess irregular eating habits such as avoiding meals, eating snacks and sweets, and lacking a balanced diet. They also feel too fat and are more prone to depression than the non-binge eaters (NBE).
