Emotion-induced eating and sucrose intake in children: the NHLBI Growth and Health Study
Article Abstract:
A new brief questionnaire for assessing emotion-induced eating for use with children, developed by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Growth and Health Study, has found only a weak link between emotion-induced eating and reported food intake in black and white girls aged nine and 10. Indeed, it was established that total caloric intake and percent of caloric intake from fat are not connected to emotion-induced eating. A very small link was seen for percent of caloric intake from sucrose, with this relationship being significant only for white girls and not for black girls.

Measuring eating concerns in black and white adolescent girls
Article Abstract:
The instrument, to measure eating disorders in adolescent girls from diverse ethnic backgrounds, the Eating Disorder Inventory (EDI-C), is inappropriate as it was invented for younger children. The results for both were same, however for African American girls the interpretation needed to be handled cautiously.
