On the capacity of attention: Its estimation and its role in working memory and cognitive aptitudes
Article Abstract:
A theoretical framework is provided to understand the relation between working memory (WM) and aptitude measures. It is argued that the critical aspect of successful WM measures is that rehearsal and grouping processes are prevented, allowing a clearer estimate of the number of separate chunks of information the focus of attention circumscribes at once.

Eyetracking and selective attention in category learning
Article Abstract:
An eyetracking experiment was conducted based on the assumption that category learning often involves learning to selectively attend to not only those stimulus dimensions useful for classification. The participants learned to allocate their attention optimally and that learners tend to fixate all stimulus dimensions early in learning.

The spatial resolution of visual attention
Article Abstract:
Research shows the grain of visual selection is more coarse than visual resolution, comprising approximately 60 items arrayed within 30 degrees of the visual field. The parietal area probably controls visual selection and it acts by noting the spatial or cortical coordinates for interesting items.
