Evaluation of a computer simulation to assess subject preference for different types of incentive pay
Article Abstract:
Computer simulation is used in examining choices for various types of incentive pay. A behavioral choice procedure is incorporated in the simulation. Ten undergraduate students were used as subjects in the model. The choices include lower, stable pay compared with higher, riskier pay. The percentage of monthly living expenses as compared to total pay was used as an independent variable. Results show the effectiveness of computer simulation in predicting the behavior of the subjects.

The effects of work task manipulation and scheduling on patient load, revenue, eyewear turnover, and utilization of staff and doctor time
Article Abstract:
The redistribution and assignment of staff and physician tasks resulted in the decrease in the number of days that passed between the time of examination and the day the eyeglasses are given. The strategy also leads to the increase in the number of appointments and the daily revenue obtained by the physicians. Task redundancy, integration of independent individual assignments and accountability of the staff and the physicians are addressed by the task-manipulation condition.
