Evidence for assembled phonology in beginning and fluent readers as assessed with the first-letter-naming task
Article Abstract:
Assessment of the reactions of two sets of novice and expert readers to a first-letter naming task revealed major similarities in word recognition patterns of both beginning and fluent readers. Word recognition patterns of all subjects were ascertained to be modulated by phonology by determining the major influence of phonologic coding as a primary task in word recognition.
