From prototypes to caricatures: Geometrical models for concept typicality
Article Abstract:
The extent of geometrical representation in a psychological space succeeds in predicting typicality in animal, natural food, and artifact concepts and whether contrast categories contribute to the prediction is investigated. Contrast effect is a robust phenomenon, since it is found in a broad range of semantic categories, defined at very different hierarchical levels and results imply that concepts are never represented as purely isolated entities.
