Groups and solos in context: the effects of accountability on team negotiation
Article Abstract:
Individuals who settle under conditions of high accountability consider themselves to be at a weak position in the negotiation even before the settlement starts. The understanding may form the foundation of the accountability/competitive relation that distinguishes solo negotiation. When contextual pressures are existent, teams serve to diffuse the impacts of these factors, minimizing their effect on the quality of agreement.
