Halting in single word production: A test of the perceptual loop theory of speech monitoring
Article Abstract:
The perceptual loop theory of speech monitoring, which claims that inner and overt speech is monitored by the comprehension system, was examined. The results suggest that the perceptual loop detects errors by making comparisons at a level where phonological knowledge is represented and that dialogue, back channeling and other areas where speech production is affected by simultaneous comprehension might operate based on phonological comparisons.

Simulating consistency effects and individual differences in nonword naming: A comparison of current models
Article Abstract:
Two aspects of nonword naming, such as spelling-sound consistency effects and variability in the pronunciations assigned to ambiguous nonwords such as MOUP are examined. Performance of a parallel distributed processing model is assessed over multiple runs, representing multiple subjects with varying reading experience.

Deficits in phonology and past-tense morphology: what's the connection?
Article Abstract:
The mechanisms that underlie the neuropsychological dissociations between regular and irregular past tense verb processing were studied in nonfluent aphasic patients. The results indicated a central phonological deficit under which distinctions lacking phonological salience are particularly vulnerable.
