Heightened accuracy of self-reported weight in bulimia nervosa: a useful cognitive "distortion."
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the existence of bias in reporting weight and height of persons with bulimia nervosa. Participants included 102 bulimia nervosa women patients with mean age of 23.7 years and 204 healthy control subjects who were individually matched to the bulimia nervosa cases. Results indicate errors in the controlled subjects' self reports which were associated with the difference between their actual and desired height and weight. Heightened accuracy in the reports of bulimia nervosa patients shows their intense interest in their weight.

Treating bulimia nervosa in primary care: a pilot study
Article Abstract:
A method for treating patients suffering from bulimia nervosa was developed based on the cognitive behavioral approach. Intended for use in primary care facilities, the treatment program was tested on 11 patients confined in two general practices in Oxford, England. The results showed that six patients did well, three did not respond to the program while external events interfered with the progress of the two remaining patients.
