Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to investigate males' and females' judgments of the actual size of thin female celebrities and their attitudes toward size for a female, depending on their current body satisfaction or body dissatisfaction. Body-dissatisfied individuals judged the actual size of thin female celebrities thinner than actuality while body-satisfied individuals were accurate in their judgments of the actual size of female celebrities.

The effect of body dissatisfaction on women's perceptions of female celebrities
Article Abstract:
Media exposure may result in some women feeling dissatisfaction with their body shape. Undergraduate females were shown accurate an distorted photographs of thin and heavy female celebrities to determine which women are affected by media exposure. Women concerned about their body shape rated thin celebrities as thinner than actuality, but both groups rated heavy celebrities as heavier than actuality.
