Illusions of knowing: Metamemory and memory under conditions of retroactive interference
Article Abstract:
A number of experiments were conducted that represents a phenomenon in which people experienced an 'illusion of knowing' such that they were overconfident in their ability to remember information they subsequently were unable to recall. The central findings from these experiments indicated that dissociation was obtained between metamemory and memory under conditions of retroactive interference.

"Know thyself!" The role of idiosyncratic self-knowledge in recognition memory
Article Abstract:
Two experiments demonstrated that knowledge about idiosyncratic aspects of one's own memory performance is likely to become the basis for inferences in recognition. The findings suggest that in order to understand reconstructive mechanisms in recognition, idiosyncratic knowledge or beliefs about one's own memory must be taken into account.

Generation failure: Estimating metacognition in cued recall
Article Abstract:
Three experiments examined generation, recognition, and response bias in the original encoding paradigm using the type 2 signal-detection analysis advocated by Higham. The results are discussed in terms of traditional and modern generate-recognize theory, metacognition, and dual-route models of recall.
