Intriguing links between animal behavior and anorexia nervosa
Article Abstract:
A review of existing literature on animal body composition, thin sow syndrome and halothane gene yielded the possibility of coming up with animal models for anorexia nervosa. The study revealed that thin sow syndrome in pigs has some similarities to anorexia nervosa, a condition characterized by the avoidance of food and the inducement of weight loss by virtue of a range of psychosocial conflicts. These developments in understanding body composition in animals as well as animal behavior may be able to provide vital insights into anorexia nervosa and its possible cure.

Recovery from anorexia nervosa: a sociological perspective
Article Abstract:
A survey of 32 ex-anorexia nervosa sufferers was conducted to find out their strategies for recovery and analyze the disease from a sociological standpoint instead of the usual medical or psychological viewpoint. Results show that these former patients considered recovery as an ongoing process and that it implied a return to normal community life after facing possible death through anorexia.
