Sequencing of cognitive-behavioral treatments for bulimia nervosa
Article Abstract:
An evaluation of the efficacy of a sequential trial of Stage 1 group psychoeducation (PE) followed by Stage 2 individual cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) in the treatment of bulimia nervosa indicates that a combination of PE and CBT is substantially more effective than PE alone in reducing the specific eating symptoms of binging and purging. However, additional CBT treatment does not bring further improvements over PE alone with regard to patients' overall eating disorder psychopathology or nonspecific psychopathology. Additional CBT treatment led to higher remission rates from binging and purging.

Night eating and binge eating disorder in obese patients
Article Abstract:
The prevalence of night eating in severely obese patients accepted for bariatric surgery is around 7%, according to research undertaken among 63 obese patients eligible for bariatric surgery. Night eating appears to be closely connected with binge eating disorder. Biliopancreatic diversion has a very significant impact on binge eating, with more than 95% of patients ceasing binge eating following the operation. However, this operation does not seem to affect night eating, with almost all patients who had referred to night eating before the operation continuing with this behaviour afterwards.
