Knives, guns, and interparent violence: relations with child behavior problems
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to investigate the relation of interparent violence, involving knives and guns, to behavior problems in children. The research involved three groups of families with 8-12 year-old children. The findings indicate that children who witnessed violence involving guns or knives and those who did not witness parental dispute involving guns or knives but whose parents reported using them, have high levels of behavior problems. Those children who did not observed marital violence with guns or knives and whose parents did not report using them have lower levels of behavior problems.
