Lifetime weight cycling and psychological health in normal-weight and overweight women
Article Abstract:
A study examined the impact of weight cycling history on the psychological well-being of both normal-weight and overweight women. The study involved a sample of 429 normal-weight and obese women who reported their weight cycling history. Self-reported measures of depression, stress, anxiety and anger were also obtained. Findings revealed no adverse relationships between weight cycling history and psychological variables, indicating that weight cycling history has no negative effect on psychological health regardless of one's weight status.

Expressed emotion and the prediction of outcome in adolescent eating disorders
Article Abstract:
Maternal criticism explains the outcome variance and the psychiatric status of adolescents during eating disorder treatments. The outcome varies inversely with maternal criticism. Critical mothers are also more overinvolved while fathers are either overinvolved or critical. The use of laxatives increases in patients with critical parents and those with eating disorders not otherwise specified. The levels of Expressed Emotion (EE) are unsteady and change with time. There is no correlation between EE variables and socioeconomic status.
