Mental disorder as a Roschian concept: a critique of Wakefield's 'harmful dysfunction' analysis

Article Abstract:

Mental disorder is perceived as 'harmful dysfunction' by J.C. Wakefield, where 'harm' implies the illfavored condition and 'dysfunction' indicates the failure in normal functioning by natural selection. In contrast, other authors suggest a Roschian concept for mental disorder that incorporates variability among individuals and want Wakefield's analysis to be extended. Natural selection indispensably causes variability across individuals as proposed by the Wakefield's concept of evolutionary.

The susceptibility of overt and covert integrity tests to coaching and faking

Article Abstract:

Overt integrity tests used by psychologists appear to be very susceptible to coaching of the patient, but covert tests seem to be less affected by coaching. Faking was not an effective way to bias the results of either cover or over integrity tests. The implications for the debate over the possible prediction of counterproductive behavior are dsicussed.
