Multi-dimensional contributions to garden path strength: Dissociating phrase structure from case marking
Article Abstract:
The phrase structure revision and revision of case making, which are the subcomponents of syntactic reanalysis are identified by examining the German subject-object ambiguities that require a revision towards a dative-initial order. The data generated suggest that the syntactic reanalysis is not a homogenous process but could be subdivided along several dimensions that interact in determining the overall garden path strength.
