Mum's the word: mothers' perspectives on communication about sexuality with adolescents
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that mothers employ mutually interactive, child-initiated, opportunistic, reactive and avoidant communication styles when communicating with their adolescents about sexuality and sex. Styles varied according to the issues discussed, how often sexual communications occurred and who initiated the communication. Some of the mothers surveyed focused little on physical development, generally assuming that the subject was covered in school. Few mothers communicated with their adolescents about sexual arousal or desire.

Adolescents' perceptions of their risk environment
Article Abstract:
Various researchers have come up with models to explain adolescent behavior in risk environments. However, these models fail to explain adolescents' perceptions of risk behaviors and the production of a risk environment peculiar to teenagers. Moreover, aspects of risk perception are not fully explained by the models. To remedy this problem, researchers develop a model of risk perception that allows teenagers to rate activities in six domains.
