Natural history of disordered eating attitudes and behaviors over a 6-year period
Article Abstract:
A US study of eating habits in women, conducted over a period of six years, indicated that disturbed attitudes towards eating do not diminish with age, as is generally believed. Some 166 new mothers, aged 25-42, were surveyed. It was found that as women get older their attitude towards eating became worse, although rates of behavior associated with eating disorders, such as food deprivation, binging, and use of diuretics declined.
