Negotiation teamwork: the impact of information distribution and accountability on performance depends on the relationship among team members
Article Abstract:
An organization that is composed of strangers were found to produce a greater share of the joint profit than a team of friends when teammates were responsible to a supervisor in contrast to negotiating strictly on their own behalf. Teams of strangers also generated a bigger share of the joint profit than a group of friends when teammates have different, in contrast to similar, information about their own team's preferences. Moreover, the group of friends were more solid than teams of strangers, however, teams of friends were also more affected about continuing their relationship than were groups of strangers.
