Normative tables for calculating the WISC-III Performance and Full scale IQs when symbol search is substituted for coding
Article Abstract:
The IQ tables for the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC)-III Performance and Full scale display lack of variability in scores near the center of the distribution, when the symbol search subtest is substituted for the coding subtest. This difference is exaggerated at the extremes of the distribution. The standard error of measurement is a little different when symbol search is substituted for coding, as symbol search has a different average intercorrelation with other performance subtests. It also has a different reliability estimate associated with performance.
