Peer relationship problems in children with Tourette's Disorder of diabetes Mellitus
Article Abstract:
It was hypothesized that Tourette's patients have poorer peer relationships than their classmates, poorer social skills and lower self-esteem than children with diabetes and that parents of Tourettes's patients would have higher rates of psycopathology than parents of children with diabetes. Children with Tourette's disorder were found to have poorer peer relationships than their classmates and were more at risk for having poor peer relationships than children with diabetes mellitus. Parents were often found to be inaccurate in predicting their child's peer relationships.

Reduced white matter connectivity in the corpus callosum of children with Tourette syndrome
Article Abstract:
Corpus callosum (CC) white matter connectivity, as measured by the Fractional Anisotropy (FA) index from diffusion tensor images, is assessed in 20 clinically well-defined boys with Tourette syndrome (TS) and 20 age and gender-matched controls. Results suggest that reductions in FA in CC regions reflect either fewer interhemispheric fibers or reduced axonal myelination and FA values do not correlate significantly with the severity of the symptoms.

Annotation: Tourette syndrome: A relentless drumbeat--Driven by misguided brain oscillations
Article Abstract:
The role of aberrant neural oscillations in the pathogenesis of Tourette syndrome (TS) was reviewed, and it was indicated that electrophysiological effects of medications and surgical interventions used to treat TS might have an ameliorative effect on these aberrant oscillations. An exploration may provide insights into the functional significance of these oscillations in the anticipation and performance of normal actions, thoughts and emotions.
