Phenotypic and cytolytic activity of Macaca nemestrina natural killer cells isolated from blood and expanded in vitro
Article Abstract:
Natural killer (NK) cells in pigtail macaques (Macaca nemestrina), isolated from blood and expanded in vitro, are characterized to examine their phenotypic and cytolytic activity. It is noted that populations of peripheral blood mononuclear cells that have a CD16+/CD3- phenotype behave functionally as NK cells by killing NK-sensitive K562 cells, and a subset of these cells expanded in culture show the presence of CD56 cells, which have a capacity to kill K562 cells.
