Phonological processing, language and literacy: a comparison of children with mild-to-moderate sensorineural hearing loss and those with specific language impairment
Article Abstract:
Literacy ability, language ability and phonological skills were compared over four groups of children. Nineteen children had mild-to-moderate sensorineural hearing loss and twenty had specific language impairment and two were control groups. The results and implications are discussed.

Language and social cognition in children with specific language impairment
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the relationship which exists between the development of language skills and the development of social cognition. The measurement of language, social competence and phonological short-term memory is discussed.

Phonological awareness of syllables, rhymes, and phonemes in deaf children

Research is presented concerning the phonological awareness of deaf children with a mean age of 11. The awareness of rhymes, syllables and phonemes in deaf children is discussed and a comparison with other studies is made.
